Sri Lanka is home to over 20 National parks, most of which are sanctuaries for a wide variety of wildlife such as the Asian Elephant, Sri Lankan Leopard and Sambar.

This photograph captures an “Ambalama” in Matale countryside, a main district in the Central Province. An Ambalama is a traditional resting place for the weary traveler to take shelter, rest and sleep awhile in ancient times.
